Bamikola, Right Futures participant
Nineteen year-old Bamikola joined Right
Futures after moving to the UK from Sierra Leone. Bamikola had
limited English and as a result had low confidence. However his
desire to work in the care industry was clear to see.
Bamikola started working with Meera, his personal Adviser. Meera
identified some skillsets he'd need to improve to achieve his job
goal, so she encourage him to take two modules of our 'Jump Start'
'It's All About You' helped Bamikola identify his individual
work style, personality and ways to improve his motivation. The
more he could understand about himself, the better he would be able
to sell himself to an employer. The second module, 'Selling
Yourself With Your CV', helped him find the best way to present
this information on his CV and develop a plan for tackling
application forms and personal statements.
With his new-found skills, Bamikola had a real belief that the
Right Futures programme could change his life.
And he was right! After a few applications, Bamikola secured a
job in a care home.
Bamikola told us the training and support that Meera offered
him, has helped him overcome obstacles that he previously thought
"I am very lucky to have had this kind of support,
and I can only thank you."
