Our research

Expert research and policy thinking

We produce original research and policy solutions to support innovation and improvement in public services delivery.

What we do

We undertake research in order to deepen our understanding of the people and communities we support and share our insights to inform national policy.

We look further into the data and stories from our services and commission and contribute to reports across a range of public service topics.

We look deeper into the data and experiences of people using our services and their communities, working with community and sector stakeholders to build the evidence base and identify where improvements and innovations can make things better for people.

We co-design research with a wide range of partners and communities, collaborating with employers, think tanks, policymakers and charities. We also seek to bring the latest research insights and good practice into the design and delivery of our frontline services.

Our research reports have shaped policy development in areas such as in-work progression, labour market opportunity for people with criminal records, disability equality and addressing the UK’s skills challenges.

Our expert senior leaders also provide frequent commentary on key issues in their areas to contribute to public debate and awareness.
