Super adviser help 900 people into work

1 Jul 2016

A Reed in Partnership employment adviser has been commended this week for helping over 900 people get back into employment over the course of her 15 years career with us.

Ozgun Hulusi, who is based in our Southgate office, started working with us in 2000 and helped the first ever person into work as part of the Government’s flagship Work Programme back in June 2011.

She received a letter of congratulations from the company’s Managing Director, Martin Fallon who praised her long service and dedication to helping the unemployed.

Martin Fallon said:

“Although a long standing member of staff, Ozgun still carries the same enthusiasm in helping people better their lives through sustainable employment. She has been threatening to retire for a number of years now, but we hope we can persuade her to stay for a bit longer!”

Ozgun has helped many young people who can face a number of barriers to accessing work around lack of previous experience, health issues or challenges because of their previous education.

In particular, she helped a group of young people in Enfield into apprenticeships, some of whom were given Apprenticeship Awards at a special ceremony attended by the Mayor of Enfield.

Lauren Stevens, who Ozgun supported to successfully become an apprentice. Said:

“Ozgun helped me to get this opportunity by doing job searches, mainly focussing on the council. I’m based at the civic centre, I’ve been there for 3 months, and will hopefully pass my probation soon! Ozgun was a really good adviser, I’d recommend anyone else to contact her or Reed in Partnership with help with getting a job.”

Ozgun has recently started supporting those with health challenges who are on Employment Support Allowance, helping them to overcome complex needs to return to work. In a short time, she has come up with different ways of engaging these clients, including arranging a coffee morning involving the whole office. She also brought in an external partner, inviting the local psychological therapies team where they were able to identify people who would benefit from additional support.

Claire Rea, Enfield Jobcentre Plus, Department for Work and Pensions, said:

“Ozgun has a great connection with her clients and will do everything she can to help her claimants overcome any barriers to work whether that was referring them to courses or liaising with probation officers and potential employers.”

Many congratulations to Ozgun - keep up the great work!
