YES out in the community
18 Oct 2016
Reed in Partnership recently exhibited our Youth Employment Skills (YES) service at The Job Show at Crystal Palace Football Club.
The event allowed for young people to explore full-time and part-time jobs, as well as apprenticeships
Our YES team was based in the fair’s youth services section, where lots of young people aged 18-24 signed up for our support, and our experienced YES Advisers are already supporting them to find suitable and sustainable employment, an apprenticeship and/or training.
We were also able to build lots of positive employer links during the day, which will help increase the opportunities we are able to offer YES participants.
Levent, YES Southwark Adviser Manager, said:
“The Job Show was a fantastic opportunity to promote Youth Employment Skills to both young people and employers! Engaging with over 25 employers and training providers and 400 members of the public of all age made it a lively and really positive event.”
YES is a free support service for 18-24 year olds living in London. The programme is aimed particularly at young people who may experience extra barriers to finding suitable employment, including: mental health issues; drug/alcohol abuse; homelessness. Support is also available to those belonging to a minority ethnic group.
The service is part funded by the European Social Fund.
