Praise for Work Routes Coventry

7 Nov 2017

Andy Street, the Mayor of West Midlands, is encouraging unemployed people from Coventry to take advantage of free support from our Work Routes service in Coventry.

The Mayor recently visited the Work Routes office in Coventry to find out more about the programme, which is funded by the European Social Fund (ESF).

ESF Work Routes has so far supported 40 people from Coventry into work.

The programme is for unemployed people from Coventry who would like support to find a suitable job. People who sign up to Work Routes are assigned a personal adviser who will support them with regular one-to-one meetings, a tailored CV, free skills training, job search, and interview preparation.

The team is on hand to help participants address any personal circumstances that might be preventing them from finding work, such as financial and housing issues, previous convictions and caring responsibilities.

Andy Street, Mayor of West Midlands, said:

“Reed in Partnership is doing a fantastic job helping unemployed people in Coventry find work.”

“I was delighted to visit the team and find out more about their Work Routes programme, which offers free and personal support to unemployed local people who are struggling to enter employment.”

“The Work Routes team understands the different barriers to employment that people may have - such as mental and physical health issues, lack of skills and qualifications, and homelessness - and works with individuals to overcome these barriers to find a job that suits them.”

“I’d encourage anyone who is unemployed and would benefit from friendly and non-judgmental support to get in touch with the Work Routes team today, and take the first step towards developing the skills and confidence they need to start work.”
