Leeds Rhinos learn to cook
31 Jan 2018
Leeds Rhinos have been sharpening up their skills in kitchen and nutritional understanding, using our One You Leeds service in Leeds Market.
Players Jordan Lilley, Josh Walters, Ashton Goulding, Brett Ferres, Cameron Smith and recent Kiwi import Nate Peteru have all taken part in the sessions, learning a new veggie chilli recipe and making pizzas from scratch.
First Team Nutritionist Tom Geeson-Brown explained the benefit of the sessions for the Rhinos:
“Nutrition is really important to the club - pushing what, when and how much you should be eating. However all that knowledge isn’t much use unless you can apply it in the kitchen, so we’re working with One You Leeds to help the guys learn some valuable cooking skills,”
Ashton Goulding said:
“I don’t always have a perfect diet always but these sessions have helped me understand the diet I need to help me perform on the pitch. I’d not always think to make things from scratch, so this has been really good.”
Jordan Lilley has recently moved out of home, so learning how to cook is an important to his next step:
“We’ve been gaining some extra skills and qualities. It’s a healthier way of cooking that relates to what we’re doing at the Rhinos.”
Cook Well sessions with Jamie’s Ministry of Food help people cook tasty, affordable and nutritious meals from scratch. The sessions are hands-on, fun and friendly and a great way to save money and improve your own and your family’s health and wellbeing.
Sessions can be taken for as little as £2 per person.
