The Big Give launches Global Coronavirus Appeal
14 Jul 2020
Millions of people across the world who have fled violence and hunger now face a new threat from Coronavirus. In places like Syria, South Sudan and Yemen, many families are living in crowded refugee camps with little access to medical care, clean water or enough food, making them even more vulnerable to the threat of this pandemic.
That’s why today the Big Give is launching an emergency match funding appeal to support charities responding to the pandemic in some of the worlds most fragile contexts.
We are supporting a number of charities who are working tirelessly to meet the needs of families and communities across the world to:
- Provide families with clean water, soap and information on keeping themselves safe
- Provide frontline medical and aid workers with equipment and supplies to care for the vulnerable and sick
- Ensure families get enough food to prevent malnutrition, particularly amongst children.
We have already run a UK Coronavirus appeal which launched in March and raised over £1.3m to support the National Emergencies Trust as well as the recent Champions for Children campaign which raised £3.6m for vulnerable children in London affected by Coronavirus. As lockdown measures slowly lift here in the UK, we want to provide help for families and vulnerable communities across the world who have fled violence and hunger.
You can get involved by donating (which will be doubled), and sharing the campaign on LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter.
