Employer Spotlight - Mitie

24 Jul 2025

At Reed in Partnership, we partner with a wide range of employers who are aligned with our goal of supporting people back into sustainable employment. Through our government funded employability services, we provide free support to people looking for work through access to good local job opportunities.

One of our partnerships is with facilities management provider Mitie, who run the Mitie Foundation. Established in 2013, the Mitie Foundation is a registered charity focused on providing varied life opportunities to disadvantaged groups.

Through a range of tailored programmes, the Foundation supports unemployed jobseekers, veterans, ex-offenders and people with learning disabilities. These initiatives help to break down barriers by enriching workforce diversity and meet their mission to provide opportunities and open viable routes to sustainable employment.

Since our partnership began in July 2024, we have placed 20 jobseekers into Facility Management roles through the Mitie Foundation. Applicants are supported through a dedicated application process involving a work experience programme with a guaranteed interview at the end of it, offering a pathway to potential employment.

Helen Longfils, Group Director of Social Value at Mitie, said: “We’re incredibly grateful for the unwavering support and dedication of Reed in Partnership. Their commitment to working with Mitie to deliver employability initiatives and create inclusive hiring opportunities has been instrumental in driving real, positive change for job candidates from disadvantaged backgrounds.

“It’s been a truly collaborative partnership, built on shared values and a mutual focus on empowering individuals and finding opportunities to change lives through skills and employment. We’re proud of what we’ve achieved together and excited to continue working with Reed in Partnership to build on our track record of creating meaningful, lasting social value into the future.”

Last week, our National Account Manager Sundeep Patel, was invited as a keynote speaker to the launch of Mitie’s new social strategy, Plan Thrive. Research commissioned by Mitie found that only 18% of people in the UK feel they are truly thriving. The launch of Plan Thrive aims to tackle this statistic by pledging to uplift one million lives through inclusive employment and helping people to build sustainable careers.

Sundeep shared: “Last week I had the honour of joining Mitie at the launch of their new social value strategy, Plan Thrive. I was delighted to be invited as a speaker to talk about our partnership and how together we have impacted communities across the UK.

“In my speech, I shared my own personal journey of unemployment and how Plan Thrive aims to address this challenge. I also discussed the power of collaboration and inclusive partnerships to achieve sustainable outcomes.

“My call to action is to work together to impact generations to come. Together through Plan Thrive we can create new opportunities and take meaningful steps towards inclusive employment.”

Reed in Partnership has worked with more than 25,000 recruiting businesses. 96% of the employers we’ve worked with said they would use our recruitment services again. As our employability services are government-funded, our recruitment is fully funded and cost free.
